All
signs permitted within the city shall be subject to the following regulations;
provided, however, to the extent that the regulations contained in Sections
3.1804 and 3.1805 conflict with the following
regulations, the regulations in such sections shall control:
(1) All signs shall be
constructed and erected in accordance with the standards and requirements of
this section.
(2) No more than one
freestanding sign shall be permitted for every three hundred feet of street
frontage on each platted lot. Corner lots and through lots are permitted one
sign on each street on which the property fronts.
(3) Pole signs shall
maintain a minimum eleven (11) foot ground clearance and shall not exceed
thirty-five (35) feet above ground level.
(4) No sign with a
ground clearance of less than eleven (11) feet shall be erected within twenty
(20) feet of a driveway or other ingress to or egress from a property.
(5) No sign shall be
erected within any public open space easement.
(6) No sign shall be
located closer than twenty (20) feet from the edge of a paved surface.
(7) A roof sign shall
not exceed four (4) feet in height above the roof of a structure or the top of
a parapet wall adjacent to the roof of a structure.
(8) No sign shall be
displayed on a motor vehicle or a motor vehicle trailer except where the owner
of the vehicle or trailer is engaged in the transportation of a sign and
exhibition of such sign is merely incidental to the transportation; “for
sale” signs; and signs that are for the purpose of logo/identification that is
not for advertisement.
(9) Off-premises signs
containing a commercial copy shall be prohibited.
(10) The gross area of a
wall sign shall not exceed ten (10) percent of the wall face area.
(11) Signs shall only be
illuminated during normal business hours of operation.
(12) Roof signs shall not
extend beyond the exterior wall of the building upon which such roof sign is
placed.
(13) Notwithstanding
anything contained in this section to the contrary, any sign permitted to
display a commercial copy may display a noncommercial copy.
