Section 16-2100          Advertising Sign (Billboards)

A.        Arterials:  Permitted on limited access freeway only.

5 feet from the right-of-way line of a limited access freeway

1.         200 feet from any residential zoning line;

2.         1,500 feet from a park, forest, playground or scenic area;

3.         200 foot radius from any freestanding general business sign or wall sign;

4.         1,500 feet from any billboards on the same side of a freeway;

5.         1,000 feet from an interchange.

Time limit

Temporary.      Offsite advertising permits shall expire prior to the occupancy of any structures on the property for which subsequent permits are granted.

Special Conditions

            a.  Off-site advertising signs shall be prohibited in "BP" prefixed zoning districts.

            b.  The placement of offsite advertising signs shall be permitted only on lots with frontage on a limited access freeway, except there shall be no offsite advertising signs permitted within 1500 feet of S.H. 360, south of I.H. 20.  (Amend Ord 96-72, 05/14/96)

            c.  Offsite advertising signs shall be located only on platted lot zoned "B" - "IM".

            d.  Offsite advertising signs shall be deemed as a primary use of the property on which they are located.  Such signs shall not be located on a lot where other buildings or uses exist.

            e.  All offsite advertising signs shall be of a monopole design.

            f.  A Special Exception for offsite advertising signs on streets other than limited access freeways specifically for the purpose of directing homebuyers to new subdivisions is provided in Section 18-200(1) of this ordinance.

B.         Collectors:  Not permitted.

C.        Local Streets:  Not permitted.
